WoMen of Connections Ministry is an 501c3 Non-Profit organization founded by Aanu-Oluwapo Adewusi, an educator with more than two decades of experience in the American Public School System. Aanu’s unwavering dedication to educational excellence and her profound commitment to supporting underserved communities served as the driving force behind the establishment of this pioneering organization.

WoMen of Connections Ministry INC. , Headquartered in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Our organization is deeply committed to delivering valuable educational resources to students and parents within our global community. We place a particular emphasis on mentoring college students through internships and supporting immigrants in their educational journey. Our mission is unequivocal: to equip the International Community and especially English Language Learners (ELL) with the essential foundation required for a seamless integration into the United States public school system, all while fostering a profound sense of empowerment and community.

At the heart of our organization lies a deep passion for enhancing the educational opportunities available to ELL students, particularly those who have endured the hardships of displacement and resettlement in refugee camps. WoMen of Connections Ministry stands as a beacon of hope and support, working tirelessly to bridge the educational gaps that exist within these communities.

Timeline

  • Started the Teen Reading Club at the local library, which unfortunately had to stop due to COVID-19.
  • Established the community-academic resource room on 101 Cowardin Ave, Suite 103A, Richmond, Virginia 23224, and also online. Click the link for the online resources. 
  • Revamped the company website with an online academic resource room.
  • Developed more community partners for the Resume Review sections.
  • Continue to serve children and mothers with the Winter Holiday Toy Drive.

2020

  • 2nd Annual Teen Reading Club. Resume Review sessions continue.
  • Moved operations and seasonal event programs to 101 Cowardin Ave, Suite 103, Richmond, Virginia 23224.
  • 2nd-Annual Fall Prayer Conference in October.
  • Partnered with Youth Life Foundation of Richmond and a local restaurant to provide Thanksgiving lunch for single mothers and displaced families.
  • Served 198 children and their mothers at the 2nd Annual Winter Holiday Toy Drive.
  • Donated free backpacks with school supplies to 80 middle and high school students.

2019

  • Partnered with the local City of Richmond library to launch the Teen Reading Club.
  • Held the 1st Annual Fall Prayer Conference with Mrs. Annita Williams as the keynote speaker.
  • Served 51 families with the 1st Annual Winter Holiday Toy Drive.
  • Established the Monthly Resume Review sessions at the City of Richmond local library.

2018

  • Recruited and selected our Board of Directors members.
  • Acquired 501(c)3 public charity status from the IRS.
  • Launched our community information sessions program.
  • Held our 1st Women empowerment class at Bellemeade Community Center.
  • Partnered with Pine Street Baptist Church to provide Back to School supplies, and community resources through the referral program.

  • Launched referral services on our online community resource page.

2017

  • Held our 2nd cultural enrichment program at the Richmond Waldorf School.
  • Improved our Operational System of the organization. Held our 2nd Breaking Free program.
  • Launched our online community resource page.

2016

  • Provided our 1st secondary school summer tutoring program.
  • Launched our 10-week summer Breaking Free Women Empowerment program at Faith Christian Center in Richmond.

2015

  • Founded on July 10, 2014.
  • Presented our 1st cultural enrichment program to the 8th-grade class at the Richmond Waldorf School.
  • Presented our 1st community program at the East End Library with Sojourner Truth Reenactment, performed by Anita Holloman.
